Last Updated on by

When it comes to living your best life, you need to make sure you’re using high-quality products that live up to their sales claims.

At EHI Primary Care, we only recommend products that make a positive difference to your overall health and wellbeing. So, when we heard about Red Tea Detox, we were intrigued as to how to this ‘wonder cure’ really works.

According to the Red Tea Detox website, this magic elixir can melt away up to 1lb of body fat every 72 hours  — quite the claim! The ingredients of the tea are believed to be an ancient African shaman’s recipe, and the tea itself is designed to stop food cravings and eliminate fat.

Read on to find out more about Red Tea Detox and if it’s worth the cost, or is it just another internet scam?

The Creators

The main homepage of the Red Tea Detox website takes you to an About page of a Liz Swann Miller. She outlines the creation of the Red Tea Detox drink, and upon reading the first few sentences, you would be forgiven for thinking that it sounds a little far-fetched…

Liz was out in the African bush one day, and she was confronted with a dangerous snake.

The next thing she remembers is waking up surrounded by African tribespeople. Then apparently, a shaman handed her a drink that would ‘change her life forever’ – namely, this fantastic red tea recipe.

Liz, on the website, claims that she had problems losing weight after a pregnancy.

After drinking the special tea for a few days, she was amazed to see her excess weight plummet. She believes that the ingredients in this ancient African red tea can remove toxins and speed up your body’s metabolism.

The Story Behind The Breakthrough

The creators of this product use a number of photos on the page’s main website. However, according to some internet sleuths, the before and after pictures appear to be obvious photoshop fakes and stock images. This choice of imagery makes it very difficult to believe the Liz Swann Miller Red Tea discovery story.

If you scroll further down the page, however, you can see that the creators of this product state that they conducted five year’s research into developing the Red Tea Detox recipe.

They also claim that Liz has helped over 14,000 people regain their health and wellbeing.

The Liz Swann Miller persona also notes that she is a naturopath, as well as a best-selling author on Amazon. The red tea recipe she picked up in Africa was top secret until she discovered the magic ingredients herself, with thanks to the tribe that looked after her.

However, with no testimonials from the shaman himself, it is difficult to prove that this creation story is actually true.

What We Like About Red Tea Detox

The Red Tea Detox plan claims to melt 14 lbs of fat in 14 days. At EHI Primary Care, we like to recommend healthy and realistic diet and lifestyle plans. Powerful fat-burning products, if they were really what they’re cracked up to be, would be in every home already, surely?

Well, not necessarily…

There may be a few advantages of the Red Tea Detox program and these include;

Easy To Find Ingredients

The Red Tea Detox plan is made up of five ingredients you can buy in your local food store.

The key ingredients are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, so you do not have to worry about maintaining your lifestyle choices while on the plan.

You should, however, always consult your physician before taking up a new diet and exercise regime.

Versatile Program

As the results claim to be near-instantaneous, you could lose weight within 14 days of starting the program. A fast-track regime is easier to follow than one that promises sustainable results over a more extended period.

Making the red tea recipe doesn’t take very long; however, you may need to plan and make tea blends you can keep in a flask to sip throughout the day.

You can have the drink as a hot or iced tea blend. You will also get ideas on how you can add ingredients to other healthy smoothie recipes. These tips keep you motivated, and make it less likely that you will get bored of the red tea taste.

Backed By A 60-Day Money Back Guarantee

As the red tea detox plan promises noticeable results in just two weeks, offering customers a 60-day money back guarantee can seem like a pretty good offer. If you are not completely satisfied with the results of the program, you can contact the team and get a full refund within 60 days.

This extended try-out period could give you enough time to get into a healthier eating and exercise pattern. Altering your lifestyle will help you generate long-term sustainable weight loss results.

It Targets Stress

In the featured video presentation on the main Red Tea Detox website, the recipe claims to help you balance your stress hormones. The video points to several scientific studies that highlight the link between stress and weight loss/gain.

Relaxing your body with a nice cup of herbal, caffeine-free tea is a great way to end your day.

However, chronic stress could also be a symptom of a more serious mental or physical health problem. You may also work too hard, undergo regular emotional turmoil or face stressors from many other facets of daily life.

This isn’t to say that a nice cup of tea won’t calm you down. But, you need to make sure you get to the real route of your low mood if you want to enhance your health and happiness permanently.

What We Didn’t Like About Red Tea Detox

Some of Red Tea Detox claims, we’ll be honest, sound a little far-fetched to us. A tea made of easy-to-source ingredients, that manages to melt away extraordinary amounts of body fat in a matter of weeks sounds too good to be true….

The drink also claims to stop hunger pangs throughout the day, which may not be healthy at all for those who have developed a dysfunctional relationship with food and dieting. You should take into account the following things we didn’t like about the product.

Exaggerated Claims

The story of the tea’s discovery in the wilderness of Africa does not sound realistic.

There are as many plot holes in the story as there is in the dubious research that links the product to an adequate remedy for weight loss. Many studies, for example, are mentioned, but little connection is made with the product to support the claims that it actually works.

The weight loss goals are also very exaggerated and don’t indicate that this regime is suitable for long-term weight loss. Many of the advertising claims made in the opening presentation also feature stock imagery.

Too Good To Be True? Sounds Like A Scam

The Red Tea Detox plan has been adopted by over 14,000 people and counting — but are these reviews genuine? Are the customers satisfied with their weight loss?

On the main website, you can see many customer reviews, not all of them are positive, although some users claimed the recipe worked for them. Additionally, the scientific claims made in the video presentation are somewhat vague.

This lack of medical accreditation may affect some people’s overall judgment of the product. Does it sound like a plausible way to lose weight?

Offers Minimal Value

If you are gaining the secret to effective weight loss, surely you should be able to get your hands on a pre-packed blend of red detox tea to get you started?

The fact that the asking price only covers a range of digital products, may be a concern for some customers. People like to feel that they are getting a tangible item for their money. The cover price of around $37 seems quite expensive when considering you have to buy and blend the tea yourself.

Is Red Tea Detox A Scam?

Most of us would love to be a little more in shape. Losing weight can be incredibly tricky physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is hard to avoid being bombarded with imagery of perfect skinny models, and harder still to escape the desire to conform to societal standards of beauty.

This is why it can be so disheartening to see weight loss advertisers use images of perfect models to pull on our heartstrings. These (sometimes) misleading ads get us to throw our money at whatever quick-fix solution is on offer.

For example, products that promise to burn calories while you sit on the sofa, or erase a lifetime of bad eating habits with its mood-enhancing chemicals. These products promise you miracles, when really they should be telling you about the hard graft ahead.

This post will discuss the issues surrounding one recent weight loss miracle solution, Red Tea Detox, and ask, ‘Is it a scam?’

What Is Red Tea Detox?

The Red Tea Detox plan was created by Liz Swann Miller who, according to her bio, works as a naturopath and best-selling Amazon author.

As a professional weight loss expert, Liz traveled to the African bush on assignment and ran into a dangerous snake on a hike.

The next thing Liz remembers is being woken up by an African tribe who offered her a red tea drink. The tribe’s shaman revealed the secret ingredients of the drink to Liz. Then Liz quickly discovered she had found a unique blended drink that eliminates hunger pangs. The red tea recipe helped her shed 41 lbs in a matter of weeks.

On the site’s main homepage you can watch an hour and a half long presentation that recounts the whole of this fantastical creation story in great detail. However, some vital parts of the story are also missing, such as a testimonial from the African shaman. Or any explanation on how the tribe found her, and what she was doing wandering around in the bush alone in the first place?

In the video, you will also find out what is included in your order of the Red Tea Detox plan, and again, the details are patchy and phenomenally overstated. With your order of Red Tea Detox, you get a fitness and diet plan to follow, motivational information, and the recipe for the tea blend itself.

That’s right; you don’t buy this magic tea in packets — you have to make it yourself. Luckily, you can find all of the magic ingredients you need at your local grocery store…

The ‘Secret’ To The Red Tea Detox Blend

Red Tea Detox is made up of five ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen cupboards. The idea that five common ingredients have never been tried in combination before should be a massive red flag to anyone who’s careful about how they spend their money.

How could Red Tea Detox possibly be an ancient African secret that has just been sitting under our noses the whole time? And if the weight loss effects were as dramatic as they claim, surely someone would’ve noticed these weight loss side effects by now?

The critical chemical that is released in the Red Tea Detox drink is called aspalathin.

Aspalathin is a bioflavonoid that is meant to balance out your stress hormones and help you get a good night’s sleep.

In the video presentation, the Red Tea Detox makers outline several scientific studies that point out the connection between stress and weight loss. The studies themselves are genuine; however, there is no link between this product as advertised and the effects of the drink on someone’s stress levels. This lack of adequate testing should also serve as an alarm bell to those who want to avoid scam products online.

The Real Secret To Long-Term Weight Loss

Your mood and relationship with food can have a significant impact on your weight; it is, therefore, insensitive to claim that a miracle elixir can heal your mood overnight.

If the drink does not enhance the customer’s mood in a 14-day period, there is always the risk that the person might end up feeling worse about themselves than when they started the plan.

In times of sadness and disappointment, many of us turn to comfort eating. Failing miserably at yet another weight loss plan is just one of the myriad reasons people overeat to help themselves feel better. As a result, putting on rebound weight is a common occurrence for many people coming off of fad diet plans.

Setting people up for failure from the outset is a very mean trick the weight loss industry has played on people for a long, long time. They know that if they can sell one group a lousy product that doesn’t work, they will come back and try the next one, and the next one, and so on.

Ultimately all these fad diet programs do is distract people away from the real work of their health and fitness journey — learning to love yourself and showing it in how you look after your body.

You need to make sure that you are eating a healthy and varied diet that contains all of the vital nutrients your body needs to function. Cut down on junk/processed foods, stay hydrated, exercise regularly, and most importantly find healthy ways to manage your stress levels.

It is not easy to get all of these things right, so you have to find ways to make these lifestyle changes slowly and sustainably. It helps if you make your journey as inspiring, motivating and fun as possible. You have to make sure you dig deep and look beyond the superficial when it comes to weight loss; there is no secret shortcut.

Stop Believing The ‘Too Good To Be True’ Sales Claims

For the discerning customer, little else gets the blood boiling quite like seeing fake imagery on a sales site. In the featured sales presentation video, Red Tea Detox’s ‘founder’ uses a before and after image of herself to show her amazing 41 lb weight loss.

fake before and after photo

In the image, you can see that the face has been cut and pasted from another photo.

The facial features are almost comically out of proportion to the rest of the person’s head.

The fact that the founder of this product felt the need to use a doctored image should get you thinking, who is Liz Swann Miller? Also, why won’t she use original photos of herself benefiting from her fantastic weight loss remedy?

At EHI Primary Care we like to promote health and fitness tips that really work and get you feeling good both on the inside and out. Watch out for products that promise you a short-term solution to a complex problem. As the above article shows, some products, like Red Tea Detox may turn out to be too good to be true.

Results

Red Tea Detox boasts of its powerful ability to demolish fat cells and flush them out of our systems. So, we were very keen to find out if these claims were true or not.

We tried the 14-day treatment plan and measured the effects on our bodies, and here is what we found.

The tea tastes very nice, it’s easy to drink and prepare, but it did not suppress our hunger throughout the day.

Some testimonials claimed that they saw dramatic weight loss results and could finally fit into their skinny jeans. At the end of the 14-day period, there is perhaps the chance that you may notice some reduction in water retention.

However, this could be because we had been replacing our regular caffeinated teas with this herbal, caffeine-free version. We saw no difference to our sleeping patterns over the two-week period, other than the relaxing sensation of drinking a red tea before bed.

The Final Verdict

Overall we were less than impressed with the Red Tea Detox program. The bombastic selling claims are off-putting, as well as the far-fetched creation story and use of photoshopped imagery on the main selling page. We would not recommend this product to those who are looking to lose weight quickly.

On the whole, we would not recommend super quick methods for dramatic weight loss anyway.

Check out herbals teas as an excellent way to wind-down at the end of a long day, but you should not expect to see miraculous weight loss from a short diet regime and a simple drinks recipe. You are better off sticking to a healthy diet and weight loss program if you want to improve your health and wellbeing.
